What else does Cloud Party need?

  1. Implement a feature to allow the use of Skins on the existing Avatar.

    This would require the use of the existing avatar UV mapping. Essentially, the existing body mesh is relatively good for use. The skins applied to it, regardless of the geometry sliders for adjustment, could be vastly improved upon by the very large number of skin creators out there, many of whom are not necessarily able to create mesh bodies/parts. By allowing us to apply a skin to the various body parts, perhaps also an additional tattoo layer (rather than just assigning a color value onto the body parts) it would not only allow for unique customization, but open up yet…

    • Normal Map Depth Adjustment.

      I often spend ages trying to get the wrinkles and folds right on clothing, but the result of the normal map is barely visible once imported into CP, that it almost defeats the purpose of having a normal map at all, at times just ambient occlusion baked into the diffuse texture is even more effective.
      It would be nice to have a normal map depth adjustment slider to make the normal map stand out more if it is looking a bit flat.

      • Enable programmable camera position

        Using scriptlets or scripting methods to force a specific camera position for the screen view. For example, to force the view for certain animations where a specific view is desired.

        This can be helpful when the view from with a room when sitting on a couch might normally place the view outside a wall. It might also apply for a specific view when inside a vehicle, so pressing a control would allow you to change from inside cockpit, behind the vehicle, to the sides, etc.

        In my case, I am interested in the ability to fix the camera view 90…

        • Needs a widget for adjusting attachments and moving mesh pivot point

          There's not much jewellery in Cloud Party because it's a real pain for creators to position and fine-tune attachments to the bones. If there was a visual tool like a widget, just like the one used for normal building, it would make life a lot faster.
          Just positioning a simple loop earring required almost a quarter of an hour, and some of that time was spent trying to locate the object! The widget would be useful indicating where an object is especially if it is a worn object and it is smaller than the body mesh - it can easily…

          • Vicinity-based chat (e.g. /whisper, /say, /shout)

            In line with every MMO I've come across and most virtual worlds I've used, local chat should be vicinity-based, meaning when I type something into chat, only avatars within a certain meter radius receives it.

            For MMOs the obvious benefit is immersion. For virtual worlds often we desire the same amount of immersion.

            I suggest /whisper, /say, and /shout for vicinity options as these are what I see used most often and a newcomer might be most familiar with.

            To preserve existing build-wide chat, maybe a /build option to speak to everyone would be wise.

            • Create multi-part prefabs

              This is a suggestion to implement a method for creating a prefab or saved object out of more than one object, similar to a linked set of objects. If I select multiple parts, there is currently no way to save that as a set or prefab to take back into inventory or put on Marketplace.

              This would also add benefits for creating voxel items which are more complex. Generally this would help when creating many different types of assets once you are within the Cloud Party environment, using multiple items arranged in a specific way.

              • Find other users Marketplace listings.

                I think it would be great to be able to have an entry in the contact pane of the cell phone for users that would bring up the Marketplace with a filtered list of that users listings.

                I often find something interesting in the Marketplace and would like the ability to see other items listed by the same user. As it currently stands, I'm not sure of any way to do this.

                The ability to search by user or brand would also be very helpful in this regard.

                  So i was thinking about this: you don't have money and you wanna try clothes on without buying it and if you leave the island the clothes will come off you tried on. Some items are just pretty and i wanna try them on to make sure should I buy it

                  • Adjustments to non-build mode camera.

                    As currently implemented, the follow camera "feels" rather stiff and jarring while moving around world. If the follow effect could be damped a bit to smooth out the camera movement when the avatar starts/stops moving, or changes directions, I think it would go a long way towards making moving around more enjoyable.

                    • Automatically Select a Prefab When It's Placed

                      When placing a prefab, use something like SHIFT left click to end place mode and select the just placed object for editing, e.g. exact positioning.

                      • Ability to copy Published build back to Draft build in case you mess up the Draft build.

                        Sometimes you're playing around with the Draft build, you move stuff around and then decide that you preferred it the way it was when you published it, there should be a way to copy your Published build back to Draft so you always have a backup in the event that things go awry.

                        • Create an embedded option for builds' photos' share buttons as well.

                          Right now when we "share" builds, we have an option of embedding directly in other webpages complete with position. For photos however, we can only "share" links to the photo page, we can't embed the iframe widget.

                          I think it would be great if individual photos could be embeddable as well, and default to including the in-world position and camera rotation. Right now we choose default positions (and probably camera rotations) with the exist embed build functionality, but the context would be a lot greater if we could embed the photo entry point to the world.

                          • Enable ability to turn on and off wireframe view

                            This would allow the ability while within the build tools/advanced build tools to see a wireframe view or highlighted wireframe edges on all items or the selected item, to adjust transparency of that wireframe with a slider so that:

                            • when the slider is to the left (0) no wireframe is visible, only the materials

                            • when the slider is to the right (100) no materials are visible, only wireframed polygons are visible.

                            • Share Items without a "secret" marketplace listing

                              Right now in order to test or to share resources with another builder we need to make a sale for 0 faux Marketplace listing, then make a "faux vendor" for the person to click on. Rez it in an undisclosed area and TP them in to get it, then take it back up.

                              This is NOT handy. Some of us are in different time zones for one thing. We need a way to share resources without going through the Marketplace OR a marketplace option to "sell for 0 " to only those listed.

                              Mesh folks and script folks can't work…

                                While this shouldn't be high on the list IMHO as not that many folks need it, it is imperative to have for machinima makers. More machinima, more exposure. It doesn't take a rocket scientist (wink) to see this would be a good thing for PR. So listing that want here.

                                • A single material for both SD and HD normal maps

                                  Right now, you have to create two materials for SD and HD normal maps. If would be great if these could be consolidated into one asset instead.

                                  • Auto highlight values in build mode text fields when tabbing.

                                    I've noticed that in some places in the build mode tools text fields will auto select the value when you tab into them, while others don't. The pop-up windows seem to auto highlight when you hit the tab key to move to the next field. However, the move, rotate and scale fields across the top bar don't seem to do this. It would appear that the offset, rotation and scale fields in the object editor in various locations also suffer from this problem.

                                    • Planar handles in build mode movement tool.

                                      I think it would be extremely useful to add additional handles to the move widget in build mode so that one could move an object freely in a plane. For instance, being able to move in both X and Y directions at the same time. I think this could speed up object placement when working on laying out builds.

                                      • Texture rescaling options in upload and edit options. IE: unconstrained,1024x1024,512x512, 256x256 etc

                                        Mostly for convenience in optimizing, but also encourage use of less texture memory for faster load times and introduce the power of 2 concept to people not familiar with it when they upload images for materials.

                                        • Tags on objects that can be retrieved with getEntFields

                                          Not super important but thought it could be a useful. Being able to assign tags in general info and get the array info via getEntFields would let us do things like have different reactions for collision events. It would also be useful for polling info from objects in a scene while filtering out irrelevant entities.
