What else does Cloud Party need?

  1. Normal Map Depth Adjustment.

    I often spend ages trying to get the wrinkles and folds right on clothing, but the result of the normal map is barely visible once imported into CP, that it almost defeats the purpose of having a normal map at all, at times just ambient occlusion baked into the diffuse texture is even more effective.
    It would be nice to have a normal map depth adjustment slider to make the normal map stand out more if it is looking a bit flat.

    • Enable programmable camera position

      Using scriptlets or scripting methods to force a specific camera position for the screen view. For example, to force the view for certain animations where a specific view is desired.

      This can be helpful when the view from with a room when sitting on a couch might normally place the view outside a wall. It might also apply for a specific view when inside a vehicle, so pressing a control would allow you to change from inside cockpit, behind the vehicle, to the sides, etc.

      • Create multi-part prefabs

        This is a suggestion to implement a method for creating a prefab or saved object out of more than one object, similar to a linked set of objects. If I select multiple parts, there is currently no way to save that as a set or prefab to take back into inventory or put on Marketplace.

        This would also add benefits for creating voxel items which are more complex. Generally this would help when creating many different types of assets once you are within the Cloud Party environment, using multiple items arranged in a specific way.

        • Find other users Marketplace listings.

          I think it would be great to be able to have an entry in the contact pane of the cell phone for users that would bring up the Marketplace with a filtered list of that users listings.

          I often find something interesting in the Marketplace and would like the ability to see other items listed by the same user. As it currently stands, I'm not sure of any way to do this.

          The ability to search by user or brand would also be very helpful in this regard.

          • Adjustments to non-build mode camera.

            As currently implemented, the follow camera "feels" rather stiff and jarring while moving around world. If the follow effect could be damped a bit to smooth out the camera movement when the avatar starts/stops moving, or changes directions, I think it would go a long way towards making moving around more enjoyable.

            • Ability to copy Published build back to Draft build in case you mess up the Draft build.

              Sometimes you're playing around with the Draft build, you move stuff around and then decide that you preferred it the way it was when you published it, there should be a way to copy your Published build back to Draft so you always have a backup in the event that things go awry.

              • Share Items without a "secret" marketplace listing

                Right now in order to test or to share resources with another builder we need to make a sale for 0 faux Marketplace listing, then make a "faux vendor" for the person to click on. Rez it in an undisclosed area and TP them in to get it, then take it back up.

                This is NOT handy. Some of us are in different time zones for one thing. We need a way to share resources without going through the Marketplace OR a marketplace option to "sell for 0 " to only those listed.

                Mesh folks and script folks can't work…

                • Camera Postion Smoothing

                  While this shouldn't be high on the list IMHO as not that many folks need it, it is imperative to have for machinima makers. More machinima, more exposure. It doesn't take a rocket scientist (wink) to see this would be a good thing for PR. So listing that want here.

                  • A single material for both SD and HD normal maps

                    Right now, you have to create two materials for SD and HD normal maps. If would be great if these could be consolidated into one asset instead.

                    • Auto highlight values in build mode text fields when tabbing.

                      I've noticed that in some places in the build mode tools text fields will auto select the value when you tab into them, while others don't. The pop-up windows seem to auto highlight when you hit the tab key to move to the next field. However, the move, rotate and scale fields across the top bar don't seem to do this. It would appear that the offset, rotation and scale fields in the object editor in various locations also suffer from this problem.

                      • Planar handles in build mode movement tool.

                        I think it would be extremely useful to add additional handles to the move widget in build mode so that one could move an object freely in a plane. For instance, being able to move in both X and Y directions at the same time. I think this could speed up object placement when working on laying out builds.

                        • Texture rescaling options in upload and edit options. IE: unconstrained,1024x1024,512x512, 256x256 etc

                          Mostly for convenience in optimizing, but also encourage use of less texture memory for faster load times and introduce the power of 2 concept to people not familiar with it when they upload images for materials.

                          • Tags on objects that can be retrieved with getEntFields

                            Not super important but thought it could be a useful. Being able to assign tags in general info and get the array info via getEntFields would let us do things like have different reactions for collision events. It would also be useful for polling info from objects in a scene while filtering out irrelevant entities.

                              • Scripted Keyboard Input Key Controllers

                                Allow the ability to control characters or objects using scripted actions that make use of standard user control keys. If possible, allow custom keys to be defined.

                                An example would be to control a vehicle directly using the W, A, S, D keys without any form of a popup dialog controller. This way we don't have to rely on existing popup dialog controllers or external dialog web-based scripted controllers.

                                  The voxel block building lends itself to be a great creation tool with much more possibility. When I first started building with the block tool, I found myself want to create arches and angles directly from the block tool without having to create separate objects or import mesh objects.

                                  It would be wonderful if the block build tool could do much more from a purely voxel-based perspective. Creating things such as arches and angles but also have additional modifier tools such as smoothing to create more organic or natural-based designs.

                                  • User-Created Dynamic Lighting and Material Glow Support

                                    As with any 3D world, having dynamic light support would add another level of depth to the world. To put the feature into the creators hands adds a lot of creativity.

                                    We could have various supported light types such as point lights, area lights, spot lights, etc. We can also define the colors, intensities and various other aspects of the light. A bonus would be to allow scripted customization of light properties.

                                    Also, the support for glowing materials that have a gaussian blur to them. This also could have properties to define how it appears.

                                      This is another one that’s definitely on the list but not high on priority at the moment – we want to get marketplaces working first, and some avatar changes. It is a big deal to have, though, so we definitely want the feature.

                                      A way to organize a bunch of prefabs placed in-world into a package that can later be placed back into the world intact as it was originally packaged.

                                        Obviously it's not straightforward with all the international laws, but it's important enough to warrant this entry into the feature tracker.

                                        Adult content is a big and important part of most any culture on earth (whether explicitly vocalized as such or not), and the possibilities a platform like this offers are immense.

                                        As it stands, no adult content is allowed according to the community standards, and that's fine, for now. I do hope that this will change, once you guys figured out a way to make it possible.

                                        • Save imported mesh as "terrain" type to allow terraforming

                                          Terrain. This is a big one, and quite possibly crucial to the rapid growth and expansion that I think we are all seeking here. In creating the terrain that I did, using the import of a mesh object which I then scaled and use as my land, one thing became apparent to me again and again as I tried to work on placing things on it:
